May of 2012 will be the 45th anniversary of the Sunset Beach Art Festival sponsored by Las Damas held on Mother’s Day weekend, May 12 & 13 at 12th and North Pacific Avenue in Sunset Beach, CA 90740.

New Member Project

Misty Day, a new member attending our meeting, presented a new art project she is currently publishing. It is a 78-card Oracle Deck. Misty will keep us posted on the publication date.

Grand Central Art Center has a new director and chief curator

Janice DeLoof announced that Grand Central Art Center has a new director and chief curator. He is John Spiak. Mr. Spiak has a very impressive resume and should prove to be a strong voice for the arts in Orange County. Janice DeLoof has presented a proposal to the new director for another Stigma Show. Check with her for more information.

David Michael Lee is the new curator for Coastline Community Gallery in Huntington Beach. His first exhibit, Visual Integrity, was co-curated with Shea Mayberry. SCA member Janet Adams wass included in the mixed media exhibit.

Ceramic Workshop Success

Randy Au and three other artists had a successful ceramic workshop and sale at Aardvark Art Supply. They raised over $10,000 for Japan earthquake victims. He expressed his thanks to Leach Pottery of England for their sponsorship: www.leachpottery.com
